"The Smurfs" first came out on october 23, 1958. They were first shown in "Spirou", a popular comic magazine. In the 80's the smurfs had there own televison show from Hanna-Babera Productions. They had their height in the 80's but companies are still manufacturing the popular little "action figures". The name "Smurf" comes from the german word that came from the oringinal "schtroumpf" a french word. The smurfs were usally depicted as blue, elf-like people that wear floppy white hats. There's Papa smurf, Lazy smurf,Clumsy Smurf, smurfette, grouchy smurf, Baby smurf and many many more smurfey smurfs. My favorite smurf is smurfette because she's is so awsome!
